So as to bring sustainable development in Tanzania, the government and community at large wishes to implement or help those with innovative businesses ideas to develop their ideas, but lack the resources to start operations on their own. Also, despite of the fact that, Tanzania is endowed with a rich natural resource base, is still a least developed country. Many reasons, and challenges for this have been pointed out though different studies, forums and discussions. Thus a good tool for overcoming some of these challenges and providing such business resources support is a small business resources center that is carefully designed and very well managed.

The Mzumbe University – School of Business Resources Center (SoBRC) was established under partnership between Mzumbe University (MU) and Virje University (VU) – Amsterdam. It is a university unit, under the school of business (SoB). It was opened in October 2013 with one center at Mzumbe, Morogoro.

The SoBRC is a multidisciplinary center offering technical business knowledge, skills, and entrepreneurial outreach. The primary objective of the center is offering assistance with entrepreneur’s business endeavors, (start a new business, expand and/or diversify current business and develop new skills to help one run their business). It focused on bridging the knowledge gap in the educations systems through providing entrepreneurial skills or competences, and hence help students to be job creators than job seekers.

Thus, in cooperation with the Tanzanian government, researchers, and economic development partners – both national and international, the center provides a comprehensive package of expertise and services promoting economic development and job creation for the community.
